Maybe you want to find someone or something.

Either way, the best way to get the result you want is to know how
to use the Swom search and why you get the results that you get.

Initially I was annoyed that I didn’t find myself when I searched for Norway.
I have edited my profile and chose the country I live in.
Everyone that visit my profile can see it under my name in the upper left corner.

But that isn’t included when people use the search available in Swom.

I wondered what the difference between me and the other Norwegians were.
I looked at their profiles and found that they had written Norway in
their profile text, and I thought: That’s it! I’ll write Norway.

But it didn’t work..

I had other people search for me to see if it was just me, and that
they perhaps got another result than me. Maybe I couldn’t find myself?
Silly right? :)

I gave up a little, edited my text back to normal and tried to ignore it.
But ignoring it didn’t work for me, I want things to work or I want
to atleast know why it doesn’t work.

After testing for some days I figured it out.
There is a timedelay, I don’t know how long, before the text in your profile is searchable.
I am used to things being instant, or atleast pretty fast.

Anyway, everything you write in your profile will become searchable.
This means that when people search for something you have in your
profile they will be interested in reading your profile.

When they read your profile they may even look at the business you have listed,
and they might contact you or connect with you unless they have connected already.

The more text you have, with different words of course, the more chance
you have of being found by someone that is interested in your information.

The searchfunction should be better, but we live with what we have.
Maybe they will improve it on a later date.

So, how to find what you’re looking for..

When you search for more than one word they have to be in the same
order as in the text you want to find and next to eachother.
Try this with 2 words in your own profile and then switch them around.

If you are looking for a person you can’t search for their entire name.
Not even if you know every word in their name and spell everything correctly.

To find a person you have to search for only one name at a time.
You can test it by searching for your own name.

If you want to do something about this you can of course type your name
in your profiletext and it will solve the problem for you.
Remember the delay before it is searchable.. ;)

Have a feeling that text for search is updated once daily.
Will try to remember to check that later today and post the result :)

Edit: It took 8 days for my new text become searchable.
That’s not the important thing though.

The important thing is that your profiletext gets searchable and
you should edit in some more information about you, and what you
do, today so you can be found when people searches later.
