Who should you connect with in Swom?

The answer to this question decides how you should work Swom.
If you don’t know who you should connect with, or why, you need
to do some thinking and discussing to find your personal answer.

Personally I try to connect with everyone in Swom

Wether or not other swommers want to be connected to me is up to them. :)

Connecting with gold swommers

Gold Swommers are any member of Swom who has upgraded their account by paying Swom.
Here’s a few things that you can assume about gold members:

1. They’re more likely to log in regularly.
2. They are able, and willing, to pay for things online.
3. They most likely have an AlertPay account.

To find gold members easily you have to go through the friendslist of someone else.
I recommend going through my list of course, and all you have to do is to go to my
profile and click on Contacts down on the right side.

Then you just send connectionrequests to all the gold members you can find.

Connecting with free swommers

Free Swommers are members of Swom that either hasn’t upgraded yet, or was gold
earlier and downgraded for any possible unknown reason.

If you’re interested in connecting with free members you might as well connect with
gold at the same time. This means you can do the strategy above a little different.

However..
Most old free members are slightly inactive and uninteresting.
That doesn’t mean you can’t find a few active interesting, but they’re few and far between.

The solution to this, which also saves you from doing things you don’t need to, is
to focus on connecting with the new signups which you can find here.

Reasons for connecting with new free members:

1. They are more likely to be active than old members.
2. They are more likely to upgrade within the next 30 days than old members.

From these members you can expect to get the most interacting, and Gold Evangelist (GE) shares.
You get GE shares any time a free member upgrades which you have written the word gold
to in any setting during the last 30 days.

Please don’t write things like:

Upgrade to gold now!
Go gold!
You have to upgrade to gold now!

Especially not to gold members.. Learn to see the difference here

Connecting with swommers from certain countries

Sometimes you may want to connect with people from a particular country.
Unfortunately you can’t find most of them when you use the searchfunction.

Even if they have entered their country in the option in their profile, they will
not show up unless they write the name of their country in their profiletext.

If you want to be found when someone searches for your country: Write it.

Connecting with swommers interested in certain things

Use the searchfuntion, but remember that they have to have written exactly
what you search for, on their profile, in a group or in the Open University (OU).

Could be better to just connect and find out later what people are interested in :)

Connecting with swommers looking for/offering certain things

When you edit your profile you can check boxes that matches what you are looking for
or offer to other people. The rest of the members do more or less the same.

When you view your profile you will see these choices as buttons under your picture.

Clicking these buttons will bring up all other members that either want or offers this.
The result is not the same as if you search for the same term.

You get many more hits when you use the button.
